NASA Glenn Videoconference: Exploration of the Solar System/Space and the Solar System
Pre-Conference Activity:
If so instructed by your teacher, print out 2-3 Solar System Object worksheets.


Before You Begin:

It is suggested that the class be divided into small groups with each group researching 2 or 3 planets, moons, or the asteroid belt. Worksheets are provided to record information.

Materials Needed:

  • Computers with Internet access
  • 3 or 4 Worksheets per Group
  • Reference sources

Procedure:

Research and gather information about your assigned planets, moons, and/or asteroid belt using the suggested reference sources given below or sources recommended by your teacher. Complete a Solar System Object worksheet for each assigned planet, moon, or asteroid belt.

The NASA Solar System Lithograph Set can be used in lieu of the Web site if Internet access is not available in the classroom. [NASA Solar System Lithograph Set can be acquired through the NASA Educator Resource Centers.]
