A graph also uses a grid with only one horizontal and one vertical line. The horizontal line is referred to as the x-axis, and the vertical line is known as the y-axis. The horizontal and vertical lines on a graph intercept at a point called the origin, which is represented by the ordered pair of (0,0). A graph is used to show the solution to an equation or inequality. The solution to certain equations is a series of data points, or coordinates, which are plotted on a graph.
