Obtaining Wind-US and the Tools

Wind-US, and the associated pre- and post-processing tools, are releasable to all U. S. owned companies, public and private universities, and government agencies. However, only U. S. citizens and resident aliens may have access to the software. In general, requests from foreign owned, controlled, or influenced (i.e., those with nonresident foreign nationals on the board of directors) corporations will not be granted. Instructions for becoming a registered user may be accessed from the NPARC Alliance home page. You may also contact the NPARC Alliance User Support Team via email to nparc-support@arnold.af.mil, or by phone at (931) 454-7885.

NSCKN (NASA Safety Center Knowledge Now)

Approved users download Wind-US and the tools from the NSCKN (NASA Safety Center Knowledge Now) website or via secure email. Instructions on obtaining a NSCKN account will be supplied by the NPARC Alliance User Support Team when you become a registered Wind-US user. Once your NSCKN account has been activated, you can login to NSCKN through the login page.

After logging in to NSCKN, you will initially be connected to an opening page similar to the one shown below.

Wind Projects

Several different versions of Wind-US may be listed in the downloads folder. Each major release is contained within its own subfolder. Different revisions of that release may be available as bug fixes are made, though typically only the most recent is posted. An example is given in the figure below.

To download the file, select the file name and then View from the Document menu. Build distributions will be in the form of a compressed tar file with a .tgz extension.

Tools Projects

The various pre- and post-processing tools are contained within the Tools folder. Because the individual tools are numbered independently and developed in an on-going manner rather than major releases, only one Tools folder is used. Within that folder is a compressed tar-file containing the source code for the latest available version of all the tools. This is illustrated in the figure below.

To download the file, select the file name and then View from the Document menu. Build distributions will be in the form of a compressed tar file with a .tgz extension.

Process Projects

Software for use with third-party applications is contained in the Process folder (shown below). Only the latest version of each is included. To download the file, select the file name and then View from the Document menu. Build distributions will be in the form of a compressed tar file with a .tar.gz extension.
