How to Download Files from the Archive

Last Updated: Thursday, 23-Feb-2012 10:02:52 EST

The archive is fully web-based and the download features of your web browser can be used to access the files. When a page is displayed, the files will be indicated as a link. Some files are ASCII and "clicking" the link with the left mouse button will open up that file. In Netscape, if one then selects "File / Save As", one can save the file to their local system. For larger files and binary files, if one "clicks" the right mouse button on the link, a menu will pop up and one can "Save Link As..." to save the file to one's local system.

If one desires to download all the files available for a case at one time, there is a Unix "compressed tar" file that one can download. The link for this file is at the top of the page for the respective case. After downloading the file, one must then issue the commands:

uncompress -c casename.tar.Z | tar xvof -

A directory named casename will be created with all of the files in that directory. If a directory casename exists on your system in the same director in which the "tar" command is performed, the files with common names will be overwritten.
