To test wing lift data, the Wright Brothers placed a wheel horizontally on the front of a bike. They placed wing models on opposite sides of the wheel (left and right) at certain angles to test data that Otto Lilienthal produced in 1889.
In this experiment you will also try to obtain the lift experienced by models. Rather than attaching a wheel, a bar attachment will be easier, especially since you attached a bar to a bicycle in a previous experiment which qualitatively measured lift.
Attach a horizontal bar to the bike frame so that the bar stretches over the front tire. On the bar, attach an additional bar that is hinged upward. Attach the wing model as far out on the bar as possible. This allows for maximum torque and for lift to be easily observed. A hook for masses should be attached to the bar directly under the model wing attachment sight.
