The radio-controlled aircraft that you see here is the Modeltech MAGIC 3D almost-ready-to-fly (ARF) airplane. It represents a few of the off-the-shelf aircraft that are capable of extreme aerobatic flight. These aircraft have motions and movements out of the traditional "2D plane" flight of a typical airplane (such as in loops or rolls), representing a more dramatic flying style coined as "3D flying." This aircraft was designed by Mark Leavesley solely for hovering and slow speed flight, and does so with its very large control surfaces, high power-to-weight ratio, and a thick, flat-bottom wing. Power comes from the highly-reliable Saito 56 4-stroke engine, generating 0.9 horsepower at 12,000 rpm.

* The plane and engine were purchased from Aerotech Hobbies in North Canton, Ohio.
