GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

I. MODULAR APPROACH

The curriculum is divided into five modules, each covering one or more subjects. The modules integrate questions in a practical context to make it easier for students to understand. As such, the modules are intended to be aids to supplement in-class instruction, but do not require any prior knowledge to use.

The modules are designed to be cumulative, not only in terms of content, but also in terms of level of difficulty. Each module is self-contained, so that it is possible to complete only one module or a series of modules over a period of time. A brief summary is included at the beginning of each module to review what was covered in earlier modules. Students will need to have scratch paper and a pencil for making calculations. They may also want to use their computer's calculator.

Each module is interdisciplinary and includes a problem, a series of tasks that the characters must perform, and questions that must be answered, using hint and help tools as aids. The subjects covered in each part are identified at the beginning of each module. The questions are in one of three formats: computational questions with multiple choice answers; comprehension questions with multiple choice answers; and matching parts. There is also a glossary of terms and references to other Web sites.

II. STUDENT PROFILE

The questions are tailored to middle and high school students in grades 7-12. Teachers may assign the modules to be completed individually or in teams of 2-4 people. The suggested time allotted for each question is provided.

III. EVALUATION AND TESTING

The answers to each question are provided in a separate screen after the student selects a choice. The response will tell them whether the answer is correct, and, if not, what they may have overlooked or miscalculated.
