3 Minutes Click here to see the performance capability charts. HINT: 1. Check the range, takeoff distance, and the weight capacity for each plane. 2. Range of plane = Usable fuel weight x (distance in nm/1,000 lbs. of fuel). 3. To find the length of runway for takeoff, you must interpolate between sea level performance figures and 10,000 foot figures. For example, for a 5,000 foot elevation, you would need to determine that 5,000 is 50% of the way between sea level and 10,000 feet. Then, you would determine 50% of the difference between the takeoff distances, and add that to the figure for sea level. The answer is how much runway you will need for takeoff at 5,000 feet. 4. To determine how much weight the plane can carry, start with gross weight, subtract empty weight and the weight of the fuel on board. Whatever is left over is how much weight you can put on the airplane. 1. Lima, Peru - 3651 nm. - Runway = 4,500 ft. - 20o standard temperature |
