 Given the intensity of the explosions and dust clouds created, it is getting increasingly more difficult to spend long periods of time above ground. Pete and his team have made their way back to the cave using the tunnels. BJ and her team eventually arrive back at the cave. The time is critical and the Aeronauts must develop a strategy for how to proceed. Here is what they know:
First, the Aeronauts want to stay on Earth as long as possible.
Second, water and oxygen have become scarce on Earth, requiring that they find alternative resources in space.
Third, dust from the explosions on Earth have forced the Aeronauts underground.
Fourth, they will ultimately establish a colony on Mars, but they must wait until the launch window for a space shuttle.
