This figure shows five squares, each containing a polar grid. In the baseline grid on the left, both the radial and circumferential grid lines are straight. The circumferential grid lines are squares, with sharp corners.

The grids in the second and third squares look identical. The radial grid lines have some slight curvature in spots, but are generally straight. The circumferential grid lines look like squares with rounded corners.

The fourth grid again has essentially straight radial grid lines, perhaps with some slight curvature. The circumferential grid lines in this grid also have rounded corners, but with less rounding than the previous two grids.

The last grid looks identical to the first one.
