Set
|
|
If so instructed by your teacher, print out a worksheet
page for these problems.
Consider the following scenario and respond to the questions.
Be sure to provide an explanation and justification for your
selection.
You have been chosen to be part of a team that is
working on the program to send humans to the moon. It is your job
to provide a list of supplies/materials that will be necessary for
the people and the spacecraft to make a successful journey.
- What will you take and why?

- What types of things do you need to consider in making your
selections? (What types of constraints or restrictions do you need
to be aware of?)
Now visit
Apollo 11, read the selection about the moon landing,
and answer the following questions.
- Who were the astronauts that first landed on the moon and when
did it occur?
- What types of activities were part of their mission while on
the moon?
- Who was the first person to step foot on the moon and what did
he say? (Hint: You will need to look somewhere other than the
reading selection of this text but still in the same site.)
Next you will view a lunar map of the various landing sites
of the Apollo missions. To access the map click on the words "Landing Site" on the
left of the web page. Then click on the Moon map to enlarge the image.
For each of the Apollo moon
landings (11-12, 14-17) estimate the latitude and
longitude.
