Journey into Rocketry

Now that you have completed Rocket Research 101, 102, and 103, you should be able to answer the following questions:

  1. Do I have to use water? Why can't I just use pressurized air?
  2. Is more water better?
  3. How can I modify the design of the rocket to increase the duration of the flight?
  4. What effect will the wind have on the way I launch the rocket?
  5. How will the wind affect the rocket after it is launched?
  6. How can I modify the design of the rocket to increase its chances of making a field goal or reaching a goal?

Complete the Post-assessment. Answer the questions to the best of your ability. Then compare your results with your Pre-assessment results to determine how much you have learned from your research.

Now build and launch a bottle rocket using your best design. To help you, we have provided an activity for you to follow. Select the following link and have fun!

<< Water Rocket Class Activity >>

How did the launch compare with the predicted launch given by WaterRocketSim?

Congratulations from all of us at the NASA Glenn Research Center Educational Program Office on a job well done!
