1902
Wright Kite Dedication

 |
On
June 17, 2002, Dick Glueck, sixth grade science teacher from Orono
Middle School, Maine, delivered a one-half scale replica of the Wright
Brothers 1902 glider to NASA Glenn Research Center. The glider was
built by the students as part of their aerospace curriculum, and will
be used in various educational events as a prelude to the 100th anniversary
of powered flight, and the Bicentennial of Ohio events that will take
place next year. Under Mr. Glueck's direction, the students of the
Orono Middle School have been building full-scale replicas of historic
aerospace vehicles for the past decade. Mr. Glueck has been named
one of the "All American Teachers" by USA Today and has
been showcased on Good Morning America for his past projects with
his students. He is shown here briefing senior officials at Glenn
Research Center and addressing the NASA Educators Workshop participants
of 2002. |
