Earth, Mars, the moon, and the Martian moons are seen against the sun in the background. It is immediately apparent that the sun, by far, dominates these relatively small inner worlds of our solar system. It is also apparent that the relative sizes of Earth and its moon are significantly different than the relative sizes of Mars and either of its two moons. In fact, Earth is unique in the solar system - some scientists consider Earth and its moon a binary planet since the moon is so large relative to its primary.
