CORRECT

When chloroflourocarbons reach the stratosphere, ultraviolet radiation breaks them down and releases the chlorine atoms that are always a part of CFCs. This free chlorine (Cl) does the damage. Unfortunately, this free Cl is left over at the end of the reaction and is free to start another of the same decomposition reactions. Theoretically, this chlorine atom can break down thousands of ozone molecules.
