If, while landing, you do encounter the updraft portion of a microburst, try to go around it, divert to another airport, or fly away from that area. The best thing to do with microbursts is avoid them at all costs. If you are taking off or landing in an area with convective storms within a 20 nautical mile radius, microbursts are a distinct possibility. The good thing about micorbursts is that they don't last more than a few minutes. There are also early detection systems on some planes and at airports that will forewarn the pilot of a microburst.
