SOLAR CONCENTRATORS
Concentrators are used to collect and focus solar energy to be used in various space applications including power conversion, thermal propulsion and furnaces. GRC has a long heritage in concentrator development efforts as identified below. The collage below depicts three different types of solar concentrators (Courtesy NASA).

The Compton Gamma Ray Observatory was safely de-orbited and re-entered the Earth's atmosphere on June 4, 2000. Any pieces that survived landed in a remote area of the Pacific Ocean.
