This answer is incorrect.
There are two ways to complete the problem.
Method 1
Take 20% of $900 and then subtract that amount from $900 to get the sales price.
Begin by converting 20% to a decimal by moving the decimal point two places to the left.
20% = 0.2
Then multiply 0.2 by $900.
0.2 x 900 = 180
$180 is the amount the computer is reduced. To calculate the sales price you must subtract the amount of the reduction from the regular price.
$900 - 180 = $720
Method 2
Subtract 20% from 100% and then multiply this % and the regular price to find the sales price.
100% - 20% = 80%, which gives you the amount you will have to pay.
Convert 80% to a decimal by moving the decimal point two places to the left.
80% = 0.8
Now multiply
$900 x 0.8 = $720
Now let'ss try another one.
If a $1500 stereo is on sale for 35% off the regular price, what is the sales price?
