Beginner's Guide to Aerodynamics
Newton's Third Law

Subject Area: Physics

Grade Level: 11-12

 National Science Standards:

National Technology Standards:

Objective:

After reading the Newton's Third Law page from the NASA Web-based textbook, you will demonstrate an understanding of Newton's Third Law of Motion by answering questions in which you will apply this law.

Beginner's Guide to Aerodynamics is a "textbook" of information prepared at NASA Glenn Research Center to help you better understand how airplanes work. Click Beginner's Guide Index to access the list of slides. Open the slide called Newton's Third Law (with text). Study the labeled diagram and read the explanation of the Newton's Third Law of Motion. Then using the information shown at Newton's Third Law and Airplanes Problems, complete the exercise.

Assessment:

You, or your partner(s), will be evaluated on the accuracy or feasibility of your answers.

Evaluation:

You will demonstrate the ability to use information found on the World Wide Web to apply what you have learned about Newton's Third Law of Motion to airplanes.
