George Soulas was informed by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) that his technical paper entitled "Performance Evaluation of 40 cm Ion Optics for the NEXT Ion Engine," AIAA-2002-3834 was named the 2002 AIAA Best Paper by the AIAA Electric Propulsion Technical Committee. He, along with his coauthors M. Patterson and T. Haag, will receive Certificates of Merit at the Awards Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, 22 July 2003 during the 39th AIAA Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit in Huntsville, AL.
