Piloted Control Evaluation Facility

lab photo

Future advanced aircraft configurations will require the integration of the propulsion control system with the flight control system. The piloted control evaluation facility provides a means to validate integrated design methodologies, to monitor real-time engine and airframe parameters during simulation, to evaluate new software partitioning methods, and to test control specification bandwiths and control rates during piloted evaluation.

The piloted control evaluation facility is comprised of a high speed graphics computer, a three channel projection system, a 150 degree of view forward projection screen and a mockup fighter cockpit. In addition, real-time computers execute the real time engine and airframe simulations as well as the integrated control design algorithms.
