Controls Development and Simulation Lab

lab photo

A simulation laboratory comprised of a diverse collection of development and simulation tools has been developed to carry out advanced controls research for aeropropulsion systems. This research activity entails the modeling of these systems and the development of controls concepts and laws to provide improvements in such areas as performance, robustness, emissions and life expectancy.

Control design, development, and verification efforts occur in a workstation facility that allows the researcher to construct and execute models and controllers in an interactive, graphical environment where they can verify and refine control algorithms very quickly. In addition, real-time computing hardware allows these to controls algorithms to be validated with "hardware-in-the-loop".
