Description:

  • Measures total hemispherical emittance of surfaces and coatings by suspending 1-in.-diameter sample in thermal vacuum chamber.
  • 1-kW light exterior to vacuum chamber provides sample heat .
  • LN2-cooled inner cold chamber provides heat sink.
  • Temperature monitored versus time via PC-Based data acquisition system.
  • Functional emittance calculated based on sample area, mass, and heat capacity.

Features:

  • Inner (heat sink) chamber LN2 cooled.
  • Turbomolecular pumped.
  • 1-kW light source outfitted with collimating optics and variable intensity control.
  • Sample temperature history collected with PC-based data acquisition that uses programmable thermometer with IEEE-488 interface.
