Lamb Wave Imaging Lab

Purpose: Scanning guided wave system for construction of stiffness maps and defect inspection of plate structures.

Lamb Wave Imaging System

Primary Capabilities:
  • Utilizes flexural mode velocity to reconstruct location dependent stiffness values (D11, D22, A44, and A55 for anisotropic plates: E and G for isotropic plates).
  • Utilizes time-of-flight and amplitude of flexural mode for defect inspection
Special/Unique Capability:
  • Develops point-by-point dispersion curves using frequencies from 20 kHz to 1 MHz.
Equipment/Instrumentation:
  • Custom system made by Digital Wave Corp
