Dr. George Baaklini Co-Chaired the SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 16th Annual International Symposium : Dr. George Baaklini Co-Chaired the SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 16th Annual International Symposium – Where Dr. Jaiwon Shin, NASA Associate Administrator for ARMD gave the Keynote address on “Future Challenges in Aeronautics R&D.” This symposium by the International Society of Optical Engineers was held in San Diego, California, between March 9 and March 12, 2009. Dr. Shin enjoyed a full house of attendees eager to learn about the aeronautics program and its future vision especially as it relates to smart materials and structures as well as instrumentation and sensors technologies for health monitoring/ management.
