Testing Capabilities

  • Simulates rotordynamic behavior of Oil-Free turbomachinery shafting
  • Turbine driven foil air bearing systems
  • Speeds up to 65,000 rpm
  • Can accomodate foil bearings up to approximately 60 mm in diameter and shafts up to 1.2 m long
  • Alignment performed with state-of-the-art laser alignment system

Applicability

  • Verification of rotordynamic behavior of Oil-Free shaft systems
  • Bearings can be intentionally misaligned for research efforts
  • Bearing power loss can be measured
  • Imbalance effects can be studies
