Testing Characteristics
- Unidirectional sliding at 100 to 300 rpm (0.27 to 8 m/s)
- Hemispherically-tipped pin loaded against disk through dead weights
- Friction force continuously measured with load cell
- Specimen heated with low-frequency induction coil up to 900 °C
- Disk surface temperature measured on disk wear track 90° ahead of pin
- Tests can be performed in controlled atmosphere (inert, oxidizing, etc.)
