Work Schedules

Each work experience will be planned consistent with the student's academic studies or career goals and be designed to meet the minimum study-related work hours required for conversion.

  • Schedules will involve alternating periods of full-time study and full-time work. In some instances, part-time schedules (generally 20 hours per week) may be arranged if appropriate. The student must work a minimum of 16 hours per week with at least a one-half time academic course load.

  • Students alternating work periods are required to have two work experiences. For baccalaureate and associate degree students, work experiences must be a minimum of 640 work hours or 16 work weeks. Summers may be used for one work period, but not both.

  • Work performed following graduation and during the 120-day conversion period may not be counted towards meeting the minimum study-related work hours.

  • The dates of each work period are established by the NASA Glenn Co-op Coordinator and are scheduled in conjunction with the school's calendar. Students will receive a copy of their work schedules upon entering the program (NASA C-10058). At the conclusion of each work period, students will be placed in a leave-without-pay status until their scheduled return-to-duty date. Extensions of work periods will require approval from the Office of Human Resources and Workforce Planning and the student's supervisor.
