Promotions

Promotion from one grade to another is based upon the level of education a student has attained and satisfactory performance ratings. Promotion and the effective dates of promotion are at the discretion of the Agency. It is the responsibility of the student to submit a grade report or transcript to the NASA Glenn Co-op Coordinator to support the academic requirements for promotion. As a general rule, the student's college or university will determine the level of education a student has attained. Promotion requirements are as follows:

  • GS
    Grade
    Level of Education
    GS-4 College Sophomore
    GS-5 College Junior
    GS-6 College Senior
    GS-7 Master's Program or College Graduate
    GS-9 Doctorate Program or Completion of 1 Year of Master's Level Study
    GS-11 Doctorate Program (Research) or Completion of 1 year of Doctorate Level Study

  • WG-2 - completion of 26 workweeks
