Battelle, the world's largest nonprofit research and development organization, strongly supports K-12 education programs and is proud to be part of the East Technical High School/NASA Lewis Research Center FIRST team. Participation in the FIRST competition is a natural extension of Battelle's partnership with NASA Lewis. Battelle manages the Great Lakes Industrial Technology Center (GLITeC). GLITeC is a NASA regional technology transfer center that works closely with NASA Lewis to apply NASA technology and capabilities to industry products and processes.

FIRST is clearly a first rate program--it teams high school students with engineers and gives them hands-on experience with engineering and robotics technology. Through this interaction budding engineers and scientists receive mentoring and have access to role models which are invaluable when choosing and pursuing a career. For the above reasons and many more Battelle enthusiastically supports the East Technical High School/NASA Lewis Research Center FIRST team.

THE ILLUMINATING COMPANY SUPPORTS FIRST

The Illuminating Company, a FirstEnergy Company, is pleased to sponsor, for the second consecutive year, students from East Tech High School in the FIRST Robotics Competition. The program is especially important as it gives students hands-on experience with engineering projects in a structured learning environment. It is valuable to the students because this type of academic competition gives them a jump-start on preparing for the future. We wish the students much success in the competition.

The FIRST Robotics Competition is just one of the many northeast Ohio academic programs supported by The Illuminating Company. Each year the company provides educational resources to teachers for a variety of classroom projects and distributes energy information to area schools through its Energy Education Resource catalog.

TRW SUPPORTS FIRST COMPETITION

Ask any high school student in the United States to identify a hero, and you are likely to hear the name of a professional athlete, a rock star, or a Hollywood actor. Is it possible to change this perception? A national engineering competition called FIRST is making headway. And TRW is helping.

Acknowledging the importance of exposing high school students to the engineering field, TRW is a major sponsor for the Cleveland, Ohio team East Technical High School/NASA Lewis Research Center one of four teams supported by TRW in this year’s competition.

We are particularly proud of the East Tech/NASA Lewis team and pleased to know that more kids went out for the FIRST Team than for basketball and football combined. The FIRST Competition is an extraordinary experience for all the participants.

Good Luck East Tech/NASA Lewis Team!
