CURRICULUM SUPPORT AND DISSEMINATION
PROGRAMS
-
- The NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) AESP provides professional development
workshops for teachers in the six state area of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. These activity-based workshops are designed
to enhance educators' understanding and comprehension of aerospace.
Each workshop is correlated with the national science and mathematics
standards.

- Educator Resource Center
- Through the NASA Educator Resource Center Network (ERCN), NASA provides
expertise and facilities to help educators access and utilize science,
mathematics, and technology instructional products aligned with national
standards and appropriate state frameworks and based on NASA's unique
mission and results.

- Learning Technologies Project (LTP)
- LTP captures the educational potential of NASA and GRC programs and
conducts and facilitates educational projects at all levels of the American
educational system.
- Mobile Aeronautics Education Laboratory (MAEL)/Aeronautics
Education Laboratory
- MAEL is a mobile, state-of-the-art classroom that brings aeronautics-
based technology to schools and communities.
- NASA Student Involvement Program (NSIP)
- The NSIP, is a set of interdisciplinary competitions divided into
five categories and three grade levels. The program gives students an
opportunity to channel their interest in space through hands-on activities.
There are several awards and prizes given in all grade levels and categories
to regional and national winners. Glenn is one of seven NASA judging
centers. Application deadline is January 10.
National Engineers Week
(NEW)
- Every February, NASA and other Cleveland are engineers visit classrooms
throughout the Northeastern Ohio area to promote NEW, share career information,
and show students how science, math, and engineering relate to the world
around them and why their studies are important.
- National Space Grant College/Fellowship Program
- Space Grant was established by Congress to ensure continued United
States strength in space-related research and education, and to capitalize
on multiple opportunities afforded by the space environment.
- Teacher Enhancement At Lewis (TEAL)
- Teacher workshops are offered to the K-12 education community to (1)
support the enhancement of knowledge and skills in science, mathematics
and technology and (2) provide access to NASA information. EPO offers
onsite regularly scheduled and ad hoc TEAL workshops for teachers at
no cost.
