NASA SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS

NASA provides funding to a number of academic institutions and nonprofit organizations for programs that provide tuition assistance or fellowships to U.S. citizens enrolled in selected science or engineering courses of study. The programs listed below are divided into Glenn-Specific Programs and Agency Programs. Some programs may be in multiple categories. Below is a listing of the Universities and Colleges and the respective programs that may have scholarship/fellowship opportunities. Information with regards to availability and applications are available through the participating institutions. Remember, you must be admitted to the university that provides a scholarship/fellowship before you can apply.

All NASA Scholars are welcome to apply for Glenn's Internship Program each year. Note that the application deadline is January 15th of each year. To obtain a LERCIP NASA Scholar Application, please click here. Applications must be submitted to your Scholarship Administrator before this deadline, please contact their office for further directions.

GLENN-SPECIFIC PROGRAMS

Glenn's Scholarship/Fellowship Program is designed to increase the number of underrepresented minorities who graduate with engineering degrees. The program provides academic funding assistance through grants to minority students majoring in science or engineering in pursuit of undergraduate and graduate degrees who have been accepted into targeted colleges and universities.

In addition to tuition support, students also receive paid internships through Glenn's internship program (LERCIP) each summer where students are assigned a mentor and are actively engaged in research projects at the Center. The program also addresses a plurality of student concerns: study skills; financial issues; academic, personal and professional development; and adjustment to college.

Additional funding is included in most of the grants to support pre-college programs that are two-week through six-weeks duration designed to introduce middle and high school students to the field of engineering.
The following universities have partnerships with NASA Glenn Research Center.

NASA UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARS PROGRAM (NUSP)

The NUSP program has a special emphasis on students from groups historically underrepresented in NASA programs." The goals of this program include: recruitment, retention, and development of disadvantaged students at the beginning of their undergraduate studies to career paths in areas of science or engineering relevant to NASA's mission.

The NUSP program can provide up to 50% (or 75% if student's need is such that he or she is eligible for the Pell Grant), but not more than $7000 to defray educational costs.
Additionally, this award provides $4000 ($5,500 for rising Junior and/or Senior interns at NASA sites) for a summer research experience for students who are selected.
Interested students must make application directly to the participating institution(s) of their choice.
