Enabling lightweight, durable, reliable, and safe high-performance structural components and systems for tomorrow's aerospace and terrestrial propulsion and power systems that encounter severe, long-term environmental and operating conditions demands the best utilization of advanced materials through innovative structural concepts and integrated design methodologies.

The Life Prediction Branch is well positioned to address these challenges and provide innovative solutions to structural component challenges. Our research and technolgy efforts include considerable expertise in each of the three core disciplines listed below.

World-class thermomechanical coupon and sub-component test facilities with capabilities encompassing a wide range of temperature, environmental, and load regimes; innovative research methodologies and computational tools for structural mechanics, constitutive modeling, composite analysis, durability, reliability and life prediction modeling; development and utilization of analytical tools and software codes for simulating and assessing deformation, fatigue, fracture and durability in structural components
