CARES/Life Applications
Although created primarily to foster the introduction of ceramic materials in demanding space and aeronautics propulsion systems, this series of software and associated technology are being implemented for several other "dual-use" brittle material applications. The CARES/Life software has pervasive public benefit through its use in an extraordinary array of product designs-ranging from aerospace products to medical implants-and the program has already demonstrated tremendous impact on U.S. industrial competitiveness. More than 400 government, industrial, and academic organizations worldwide successfully design brittle materials to resist fracture in structural applications using the CARES/Life software.
