Plasma Spray Facilities

The Plasma Spray Facility is comprised of two thermal spraying cells, an Ambient Pressure Plasma Spray cell and a Large Specimen Thermal Spray cell. All of the thermal spray cells are equipped with the latest in computer control and robotic systems.

This dedicated research and development facility is primarily used to fabricate state-of-the-art thin and thick Thermal barrier coating systems onto test specimens, gas turbine, and other heat engine components. Other applications include overlay coatings, composite fabrication, multi-layer coatings, and powder fabrication.
