| “I’ve
got a crazy idea that just might work,” exclaimed many a Hollywood
scientist before dashing off into the lab.
If it were only that easy!
Imagination is at the heart of research for
sure. Many NASA scientists and engineers find that one of the most
rewarding parts of their career is using their imagination to discover
new technologies to help people. But imagination is not enough to turn
a new idea into something that we can use.
Learning how to make new ideas into real
things takes time, patience, and determination—time to learn the
basics, patience to master the skills in your field, and determination
to succeed in spite of setbacks. Hard work won’t seem so hard if it is
something you enjoy!
The Acoustics Branch at NASA Glenn is proud
to support aspiring students in a number of ways—interactive websites
to explore the science of sound, to shadowing experiences, and summer
internships.
