ATL Customers

The ATL has provided noise emission testing and low-noise design consulting services for many of NASA's science experiment packages that have been developed for the International Space Station and Shuttle. In some cases, ATL's relationship with a customer starts with the acoustic emission verification test. In others, such as the Fluids and Combustion Facility, it begins early and continues throughout the design phase, culminating in final verification testing.

No two experiments are the same, from the physical dimensions of the hardware to the noise emissions they produce. ATL's customers seek to meet the noise emissions requirements that apply to their specific experiment packages. These requirements dictate the mounting arrangement of the test article, contamination and humidity control provisions, the necessary utilities and services, and the nature and number of acoustical measurements as well as the instrumentation and data acquisition system resources that are engaged for each test. These aspects of the acoustical testing process are illustrated in the photos of ATL customer testing on the following pages.
