NASA Gear Noise and Dynamics Research

Predicted peak-peak transmission error computed by the NASA code HeliStat.  Transmission error is plotted as a function of face contact ratio which is varyed by changing the face width.  All gears are loaded at constant torque of 125 N-m.
See next plot for constant torque/face width.

HeliStat predicted peak-peak transmission error plotted as a function of total contact ratio.  All gears are loaded at constant relative torque of 3.9 N-m/mm
