Predicted peak-peak transmission error computed by the NASA code HeliStat.
Transmission error is plotted as a function of face contact ratio which is
varyed by changing the face width. All gears are loaded at constant
torque of 125 N-m. See next plot for constant torque/face width.
HeliStat predicted peak-peak transmission error plotted
as a function of face contact ratio. All gears are loaded at constant
relative torque (torque/face width) of 3.9 N-m/mm
HeliStat predicted peak-peak transmission error plotted as a function of total
contact ratio. All gears are loaded at constant relative torque of
3.9 N-m/mm
Graph compares relative sound power levels measured on test gears with
transmission error predictions of gear analysis code LDP. This work
was the result of cooperative research between NASA, Ohio State University
and Boeing Helicopters.
