The vision of the Photovoltaics and Power Technology Branch
is to develop advanced direct energy conversion to enable the
wide range of NASA missions, and to enable safe and reliable operation
in space environments.

- As part of the Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts (RASC) program, NASA Glenn Research Center led a program to develop a conceptual design for a robotic mission to explore the surface and atmosphere of Venus.
- The 20th Space Photovoltaic Research and Technology (SPRAT) Conference will be held September 25-27, 2007 at NASA GRC. Please visit the SPRAT site for more information.
- Explorer Post 632, sponsored by NASA GRC and mentored by members of the branch, successfully flew a weather balloon to 98,780 ft. (18.7 miles) on April 21st, 2007. See more details, photos and videos.
- Dave Wilt was recently selected for the NASA Leadership Development Program. While in the program, Dave will be working at Air Force Research Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- NASA Glenn designed and delivered the flight
electronics for the Forward Technology Solar Cell Experiment
(FTSCE), part of MISSE-5 that will fly on STS-114
