- N. Zhang (OAI) and D. F. Chao (GRC) received a monetary award for photographs in their article “Visualization of Capillary Flow in Sessile Drops and Detecting Spreading Stability by Laser Refracted Shadowgraphy,” which was published in the Journal of Visualization. The authors were recognized for “Excellent Visualized Images.”
AIAA 2006 Aerospace Power Systems Best Paper Award at the 5th International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference (IECEC)
- Jeffrey Schreiber for his paper entitled, “Developmental Considerations on the Free-Piston Stirling Power Convertor for Use in Space.”
SPIE Rudolf Kingslake Medal and Prize
- Dr, Grigory Adamovsky (GRC), Dr. Sergey S. Sarkisov, Dr. Michael J. Curley, Ms. LaQuieta Huey, Dr. Aisha Fields, and Mr. Sergey S. Sarkisov, II have been named the 2006 recipients of the Rudolf Kingslake Medal in recognition of the most noteworthy original paper to appear in the Society’s official journal, Optical Engineering, on the theoretical or experimental aspects of optical engineering. Their paper was entitled, “Light-driven actuators based on polymer films”.
ASME Turbo Expo 2007 Best Paper Award - Ceramics Committee
- Dr. James DiCarlo (GRC) and Mark van Roode (Solar Turbines) for their paper entitled, "Ceramic Composite Development for Gas Turbine Engine Hot Section Components”
3rd World Congress on Ultrasound - Silver Probe Award
- Dr. David Fischer (GRC), Dr. Mike Phelan (Cleveland Clinic), Dr. Jerry Myers (PTH), and Dr. Jeff Mackey (MK Optics) for their paper entitled “Non-invasively measuring acoustic attenuation and scatter in different concentrations of blood mimicking fluid using Doppler ultrasound.”
